I’m kind of obsessed with dollar stores right now. Not kind of. Seriously. It’s a little insane how many times I’ve been to the local Dollar Tree lately. First I used it as incentive for my 3 year old to sleep in her own bed all night. Now I think I just come up with any excuse to go, because I can always find awesome things for just a buck!
Last year I challenged myself to come up with a candy-free Easter Basket for my daughter:
You can read about it here if you like.
This year, I took the challenge one step further and decided to see if I could put together Candy-Free Easter baskets for both my girls for less than $10 each. Yes, that’s right. An entire Easter basket free of candy for under $10.
One trip to the Dollar Tree later, and I think I did a pretty good job!
Here are the breakdowns for each basket:
Basket #1
– Olivia Color Book
– Butterfly Headband
– My Little Pony Puzzle
– Ceramic Bunny Painting Kit
– Set of 5 Elastic Hairbands
– Bug Bucket w/ Butterfly Net
– Rapunzel Magic Towel
– Easter Basket
– Half a bag of pink grass (which you can’t really see anyway)
– Half a pack of Heart Bracelets
Total: $9!
Basket #2
– Minnie Mouse Grab & Go Play Pack
– Eric Carl Sticker Set
– Lady Bug Headband
– Train Whistle
– Set of Bunny & Easter Egg Chalk
– Pink Basket
– Half a bag of pink grass
– Half a pack of Heart Bracelets
Total: $8!
So these baskets might be more girl-focused, but there were plenty of other gender-neutral options I saw as well. Lots of toy cars/vehicles, outdoor toys, art supplies, books, superhero-themed items, etc. So many possibilities!
